I figured a fitting early post for our diva pet blog would be a checklist for bringing home your new baby baddie.

Whether this is your first puppy or you’ve done this before, checklists always make life easier right?
Diva checklist:
- Food bowl
- Be sure to keep your divas size/height in mind
- Water source
- Bowls are obviously great, but some puppy’s will also use a hamster water feeder…
- If you’re going to do that have both, and the hamster feeder is for the crate
- Bowls are obviously great, but some puppy’s will also use a hamster water feeder…
- Crate
- Again, keep size in mind
- Blanket to cover crate
- Tends to be useful for crate training
- Dog bed
- Size baddies, size
- Collar
- Consider an E-collar depending on breed/needs
- ID tag
- Potentially an air tag too if you think you have a runner
- Planning on getting them microchiped
- Similar to the air tag suggestion!
- Leash
- Find the right one for you, I personally don’t enjoy retractable’s but you know, you do you
- Harness
- Get them used to it young!
- Poop bags
- Toys
- All types but definitely go ahead and get teething toys
- BarkBox is a great resources for continuously providing your diva with new things in a convenient manner
- Training treats
- Better start that training young too
- Puppy pads
- Only in the beginning I promise, it’s better than pee on the floor!
- Brush
- Brush type depends on fur type, get the correct one!
- PUPPY shampoo and conditioner
- Emphasis on the PUPPY
- Nail clippers
- You will thank yourself later if you get them used to getting their nails trimmed young
- Pet safe cleaners
- Good for the crate messes
Some additional puppy-proofing tips:
- Make sure if you’re also a plant lover that they are not toxic to your new diva
- Secure/keep an eye on electric cords
- Have medications out of reach
- Block off unsafe areas or areas you don’t want your diva exploring
- Clean floors so your little baddie doesn’t swallow anything cray, cause they do that
Additional info:
There are many variables that go into prepping for your new puppy so keep these things in mind:
- What breed are you getting?
- Some require a lot more than others
- What are your training goals?
- What lifestyle are you living and how do you want your diva to fit in that?
- Fitness orientated? Couch oriented? Whatever you want, but make sure your diva is the right fit so no one is miserable
Overall, keep it so so fun! You’re about to be a motha, or a fatha!
You can do all the preparation you want, there are just some things that you have to learn as you go and a new fur diva is one of them. You will do so great, I have full faith in you. You’re already off to a great start by visiting this article.
Love you all, enjoy your new fur baddies and tell them I love them too!
